Four reasons to emigrate to Germany

Germany is a migration magnet, attracting people from all over the world. Here are four reasons why Colombians and Venezuelans (and Latin Americans in general) might emigrate to this country:

Common values

Migration is always associated with cultural conflicts due to the clash of different customs and traditions. Therefore, migration can be more difficult when migrants come from a very different cultural background than the country they are immigrating to. In this sense, the migration of Colombians, Venezuelans, and Latin Americans in general to Germany is facilitated by the fact that both Latin America and Europe share fundamental social, moral, religious, and philosophical values and principles. Germany is one of the most important advocates of the European values of freedom, secular rule of law, democracy, religious freedom, human dignity, human rights, and the scientific method. This gives Latin Americans a significant advantage when it comes to integrating into German society, as both countries share the same worldview.

Germany is the most important political and economic power in the European Union.

Germany is an international power, belonging to the G7 group. It is also the leading candidate for a potential new seat on the UN Security Council. In this sense, Germany is also the largest country (along with France) in the European Union, and its economy largely underpins the functioning of the European single market. Germany bases its international power on its population (with 84 million people, the largest in Europe), its industry, its universities, and its research institutes, which enable the country to remain at the forefront of new technologies and innovations. In short, Germany's political and economic power guarantees stability and greater opportunities for advancement for expats.

Germany as a welfare state in the area of employment

Germany is still considered a welfare state, that is, a country in which not only the political rights, but also the economic and social rights of citizens are widely developed, protected, and promoted by the state. The welfare state protects the rights, progress, and well-being of its citizens. It should be noted that the quality of life in Germany is high due to excellent working conditions, equality in society, and the guarantee of the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms. In this regard, it should be noted that the welfare state is also manifested in the existence of a guaranteed and stable labor market and labor standards for all workers. Working conditions in Germany are generally much better than in Latin American countries. For example, most contracts in Germany are permanent, not to mention the fact that there is usually up to 32 days of vacation and the real possibility of a pension.

Germany's need for qualified workers

Germany relies on the immigration of skilled workers from third countries outside the European Union, as immigration from within Europe is insufficient to meet the demand for skilled jobs in Germany. It is estimated that approximately 1.5 million jobs need to be filled. Furthermore, the medium-term future shows that six million jobs could be vacant by 2030. In Germany, more workers are retiring than entering the workforce. More are leaving than entering. Therefore, Germany has regulations in place to facilitate and promote the immigration of qualified foreign skilled workers from third countries to fill vacant positions.
